hey guys. can someone please post a detailed picture/ accurate vacuum diagram of the pass.side strut towere where tha MAP and vacuum switching solenoid are located?

whenever i run my MAP directly to the engine bypassig the switching thingy, no code, but when i try to include the switching solenoid, i get P106

i just went to the yard and picked up an extra switching solenoid, so either thhey are both defective, of ive got my lines crossed...

there are three vacuum lines coming off the switch. one goes to the map, the other to the manifold VIA a T fitting, and the other to a different spot on the manifold thru a check valve/filter

there is also another thing that must be a vacuum switch os some kind just floating there. it is sposed to be bolted somewhere but is not.....

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

cheers :smt026

specify make model & year of vehicle.

You say MAP so that means 00+ Legacy, but your avatar shows an SVX.

the vehicla in question is a 97 leg gt

maybe instead of map i should have said vacuum pressure sensor?

Pressure switch diagram from the FSM:

The other device on the top left is the pressure sensor.

The other switch you say you have floating around could be the purge control solenoid. Does it have 2 vaccuum lines, one to the intake manifold, the other running somewhere that possibly leads to the charcoal canister?

hey, thank for the picture, ive set it up like that and still get a p106 code

the one that is floating there, on the righthand side of the motor near the TB has two vacuum hoses on it, one goes to the intake manifold, one of the three little elbows on top of the TB.

the other hose goes to the other(not pressure sensor)switch that is in the picture you posted.

when i get back from some errands.. i will make a paint version of how my vacuum lines are routed..

thanks for the help.

ok.. got it sorted out.

went to the junkyard and made a copy of the catalyst chart that SHOULD be on the underside of the hood...mine was missing :smt011

ripped all the vaccum lines out, got some new hose, and assembled according to chart. viola!

no more p0106

this also explains why the car was running so rich, as the fuel pressure regulator was running to the charcoal canister....

yay.
