so i got the rear hub assy out after alot of work. so i go and press the bearings off the hub. part of the DAMN old bearing stuck to the hub so i cant install the new bearing. i tried heating, and beating. no go. now they are in the freezer hoping they will split from one another. i will be calling a wrecking yard that has alot of these in stock and ask them if they still have the bearings or not. hopefully they dont so all i have to do is go get them and press the new bearing on. i was goin to get the front done today, but i got to damn tierd of this so i stopped.

I thought the rear bearings can be unbolted as a whole housing on the rear suspension on the BE's? At least thats how I've seen them sold from the dealership...

see number 15:

well it was either 150 for whole assy or 60 fo just the bearings. go the rest pressed off otday. will come back to work and press the bearings back on.

well I know it's not going to help you now, but it's $85 on genuinesubaruparts.com, I guess subaru made the bearing housings removable on the newer models (the BL/GR's are like this too) to save DIY'ers time from having to press stuff on/off with this design...

yea i see #15 now that im at home. that one is just the bearing. you still have to have your hub pressed into the bearing.

that sucks. so what i have learned threw this is take it to a shop and have them do it if it has never been done, and make sure they use antiseize.

glad to hear you got this fixed, this thread cracks me up. I remember somee extremely sketchy situations at school with hydraulic presses trying to remove shafts from transmissions, glad nobody got hurt....
