Anyone know what my options are on a higher performance alt?
Rewound, rebuilt, new, aftermarket?

i think in most cases you just find an amperage and swap pulleys

I've been told to have my alternator rewound to get more preformance out of it. I haven't been able to find any higher preformance alternators for our cars.

How do alternators differ?
What's stopping one from using an alternator from, say, an LS1 or something? I don't know enough about alternator design to know.
Is it simply bracketry that differs between them?

Basically that's all there is to it. All that matters is you need to run a pulley by it and run a power wire out of it. You can always get a machine shop to fab up a bracket adapter
