After much research and disapointment on our tuning options I spoke with ECS and EFI guys and found out some good news.

rumor was that our ECU's relearn over the tune automattically.

another rumor was that our ecus only relearn the low throttle. (closed loop mode)

so here is the dealeeooo

when tuning our cars you must tune OPEN loop ONLY. only wot tuning. if you tune closed loop our ecus relearn both closed/open.

if you tune OPEN (WOT) only. the cpu will not relearn anything. while it is in closed loop if it sees everything as being fune (untuned). it will leave the Open loop tune ALONE!

success there is a way to tune!

Although it isnt a "FULL" tune. you really only want power with WOT, the only real disadvantage to this i can find is you can't tune for better fuel economy without have to put in a kill-switch or resetting ur ecu every day.

I managed to pick up a AEM wideband and a SAFCII which will both be installed and tuned within the week. and a dyno tune will be done to show gains next month at efi!

I'm very interested in this as my turbo'ed Outback drinks gas and I've been considering going the AFC route.

ok well. the verdict is in! i tuned the safc from 3k-6.kk rpms, at 70%+throttle. after atleast a week there has been NO relearning or change in my wideband readings since i tuned it. and I know it has produced better power because I did a few pulls with a new Saabaru 4eat wagon. he had a catback exahsut from stromung. so i had a CAI, borla headers, hfc, and tune over him. from dig i pulled on him around 4k rpms in every gear. 2nd gear in my auto seemed to pull the hardest on him compared to 1 3 and D. so It works! and hasnt relearned!
