I ordered myself a wideband 02 sensor and safc-ii to tune WOT (closed loop). for more top end! the ecu pin numbers i am providing are for a 99 or (98.5) GT 2.5 I will include a seperate post with all other ecu pinouts
tools needed:
wire cutters/strippers
solder
soldering gun
10mm ratchet/wrench
flat head screw driver
electrical tape.
safc-ii unit
FIRST UNDO NEGATIVE ON BATTERY!
Get to the ECU!
1) remove the door trim on the passenger side front. (floor trim). (use flat head here)
2) pull back the carpet to expose the big gray metal ecu cover that is right where the passenger would place their feet.
3) remove 4 bolts and 1 nut using the 10mm ratchet
4) expose the ECU
5) pull the small lever down to remove the harness from the ECU
Connecting the SAFC-II
Soldering is the way to go since but connectors and twist tying is potentially dangerous. Strip the wire you need to solder DO NOT CUT IT all the way through unless it is the MAF signal wire.
*** there are 2 grounds, brown gets connected closer the to ECU, and the black gets farther from the ECU, (both on same ground wire)***
** there are 2 wires for the MAF signal wire, connect the yellow wire to te ecu MAF, and connect the white wire to the MAF from the harness**
Solder color codes:
Connect the red wire to the power supply. ----------------------------Pin # 1 (yellow/blue stripe, Control Unit Power)
Connect the green wire to the engine rpm signal wire.--------------Pin # 64 (black/blue stripe, Engine Speed Output)
Connect the gray wire to the throttle signal wire.---------------------Pin # 6 (white/black stripe, TPS Signal)
Connect the black wire to the ground wire.-----------------------------Pin # 19 (black/white stripe, Power Supply Ground) ***
Connect brown wire to the ground wire.---------------------------------Pin # 19 (black/white stripe, Power Supply Ground) ***
Connect the purple wire to the knocking signal wire.------------------Pin # 3 (white, Knock Signal)
Connect the white wire to the MAF signal wire.-------------------------Pin # 5 (white, MAF Signal)**
Connect the yellow wire to the MAF signal wire.------------------------Pin # 5 (white, MAF Signal)**
The other 3 wires are NOT used in our cars, tape these off.
tape up all connections and put everything back in reverse order.
Setting Up SAFCII
Turn key on to AC to power on the SAFC
When setting up the SAFC please chose sensor type HW (hot wire). this is for ALL Legacys. (means you are measuring through maf/map)
all BD/BGs should have 4 in 4 out setting for sensor
choose 4 cylinder and make the arrow point up and to the right.
Turn key off the AC. turn on car it may take a second to start up.
Settings are saved! Congratulations you installed a SAFC-II!!! :smt023
