New wheels

I got my new wheels in finally but I'm not to sure about them. They are the XXR 518 and they are 17 by 8.5 with 215/40/17. Im not sure if I like the width of the rim and the tire fitment, but tell me what you think.

Stretched tires anyone? Should have gone with a 225 width tire.

They were only offered with 215 I think I might return them and get the 17 by7.5 but yeah I think It will look better lowered

also watch out for curbs with your rim sticking out so much. might need some mud flaps to protect them also.

Alright so I might have a problem now because I was planning on lowering it right after i got these wheels but they started rubbing the day after I got them. They were rubbing on the inside on the struts.. so after calling the place where I got them from they sent me out some 5mm spacers and after popping those on there it didnt rub anymore but the rim itself is still very close to the strut...So I guess my question is if I do lower it with these rims do you think they will rub or I will be okay?

If they don't rub on the strut anymore you'll be fine lowered on the strut side - it moves up and day with your wheel as your suspension moves up and down.

Now that is no guarantee you won't rub on the fender side - so I would check that out.

The rims are too wide for that car. If you can return them then I would for 17"x7.5" and maybe a 225 series tire.

its a waste of a wheel to run such a narrow tire on it...

After a lengthy dispute I was finally able to return the wheels. Just a word of advice to anyone getting wheels do not buy them from wheelfire.com because they tell you to do things like run your wheels with spacers and then after the wheels get damaged because they said to do that they refuse to take them back. Also there customer service is terrible. But anyways for now I will just be sticking with my stock wheels until I have more money.

And a word of advice to you: 99% of wheel+tire retailers will not honor a "bring back" situation because it is NOT up to them to ensure a tire+wheel combo fits on your car. Call anyone in the business and ask them - the moment you mount the wheels to the car, then all bets are off. This is standard operating procedure at Summit Racing, Jeggs, etc.

Buyers need to call and do the research on what will fit and what won't before you click the buy button.

Glad to hear you managed to sort it out, but I have no sympathy for people who buy before they research properly - my brother worked as a CS rep for Summit Racing and deals with people like that on a daily basis. He'd gladly spend 30mins on a phone call helping someone find the right size tire and wheel, that works, rather than spend 4 hours explaining the "its mounted so now it cannot be returned" policy and then having to escalate the issue to get a return done.

Caveat emptor. ALWAYS.

well you said you already returned them but id say either get a 235 or 245 tire its a 8.5" rim right? or get the 7.5" rims it will look better with 215's tires but 225's would be perfect.

The company had 100 percent fitment guaranteed so I was under the impression that they stood by this guarantee but I guess not....more research for next time
