10k HIDs for me! HOORRAY!!

So yesterday I finally got in the mail my HIDS.. I got them from DDM Tuning, they cost me 50.00 Shipped

They are amazing it took my literally 20 min to install them, they are a complete plug and play the longest part was trying to figure out what wires are for the headlights and which are for the highbeams ( they have the bi-xenon , however with the sun stuff into my headlights i figured i didnt need them

they are AWESOME!!! I will get some pics up tonight!

Also, just wait until a rainy/wet night when you're driving. You'll think your lights are off. They are certainly mainly for show. I would stick with something in the 4500-5000K (Basically crystal clear light) range for the best lighting.

lol they always drive like 15 mph slower on the highway.

that's because they can't see anything past 10 feet in front of them...

I wonder if it would work on my USDM fogs too....

I'm going to get a set of 3000k for my USDM foglights from DDM. I'll let you know how it works out.

Anything above 6k is useless light output. There's a reason OEM HID kits are 4300-6000K

In fact, 4500 Kelvin is as close to real sunlight as you can get. Personally, I prefer 5000 Kelvin myself due to the pure, clear light.

great! since I want my set up to be 3K fogs with 5K headlights. I wouldn't want any blue or yellow in my headlights, just pure white light. I think the 3K fogs will cover the yellow side of the spectrum well enough for "anti glare" in the rain.

I don't think it would work with the USDM fogs.. it might however. Only problem is.. they are plastic, and those will cook that plastic really easy.. or at least thats what id assume.

Absolutely. I actually went 5000K for both my headlights and fogs, mainly so they matched, but they look perfectly fine in any weather/time of day. I would think the 3000K fogs will look really good with 5000K heads.

You should absolutely, positively, never, ever, EVER put HID bulbs into a non-projector bulb housing! Not only will it generally melt, but you'll have this incredibly blinding light to everyone else on the road due to non-projectors having no cut-off plate. Please don't do this. :(

Even with 35w HIDs in the fog lamps? They may get a bit hot but the direction is barely 6 feet away on the road, shouldn't piss anyone off. I definitely Love the look of the projector HIDs, almost worth the wait to save up for that set up.

even with the projector lamps on the JDM models, the reflector patterns are still optimized for halogen bulbs - most of retrofits have bulbs that place the HID "filament" out of where the original filament is, causing the beam pattern to be misaligned or put where they shouldn't be, much like putting the same HID kit in a halogen reflector.

I like DDM tuning's kits, I have three of them on my car, two Raptors and one Rdm Slim.

However, I must condone putting HID's into stock headlights. Especially 8000k. I would never buy anything greater than 5000k for the primary headlights.
