so I have to tell everyone want I just witnessed. I was at our local drag strip its an 1/8 mile track. Anyway there was a STI that went up against a 5.0 mustang, nothing looked special about the STI and you could tell the 5.0 was heavliy modded.

Long story short the STI pulled a 7.83 @ 102.0mph and the mustang made a 8.72 @ 78mph The STI missed 3rd gear!!!

So the STI comes along for another run and the guy says hes got a TT dual scroll EJ20 with a complete engine reuild that he just had it dyno'ed and it made 513 at the wheels.

it was cool, and firgured i would pass along the story!

What track is this at? The raceway should have records of any car that's going sub 8

i was under the impression that you couldnt break 10 sec. without heavy mods, rollcage etc. and have a special track endorsement? without this endorsement if you break 10s the track would kick you out.

i dunno, thats just what i heard from a (maybe intoxicated) old drag guy.

1/4 yea, but this is only 1/8 mile. if it is true then that is very imprssive

no camera phone or i would have been all over it,!!!

the STI had a full roll cage, and the guy had a helmet and 5point harness

it is at lancaster, Dunn Tire Raceway, a local radio show puts on this thing every Wed. and they have "grunge match racing" you can pretty much bring anything and race it however the track has very specific rules on track speeds and HP of your vehicle.

they wont let you run if you dont meet there ( the tracks ) standards.\\

Runs are 5$ down the track once and 25$ for unlimited as many as you can get in ( depending on people )

I ran my Leggy last year and pulled a 10.73 and a 10.85, this is 1/8 mile times!!!

damn, the Bithlo track here is only $15 unlimited runs...

my old dodge ran 15.6 1/4

havnt taken the wifes car yet...i probably will when she goes up north for a wedding.

The Mustang wasn't heavily modified if it ran an 8.73 1/8 mi. Thats probably about what a stock STI would run.
