i pretty much have all the parts to boost my legacy but am so nervous to do it and blow my lil 2.2 engine. I just wondering how much can i safely boost with out any harm? 5 PSI? and how can i control the boost? sry if tis is in te forum somewhere i looked and didnt find anything
What turbo do you have? Find out what wastegate pressure is - it's probably around what you're shooting for. If you don't want to blow anything you need to plan out what you're going to do for engine management. Timing might need to be pulled to avoid predetonation. You may need to upgrade your injectors or do something to increase fuel delivery.

i was lookin under my hood today trying to find a place to have turbo located. i was wonderin if anyone has a pic of a turbo on a ej22. it jus looks like the uppipe with not fit throught the whole hub and suspenion set up. i heard that a wrx header and up pipe would fit my ej is a single port so could i gt some single port headers and a wrx up pipe? would a wrx downpipe fit to? sorry for all the questions haha. pics wood really help. thanks

The uppipe goes between the crossmember and the head. If you use the WRX uppipe you will need to notch the crossmember or replace it with one from a turbo car.
WRX header is dual port. It will not bolt up to your single-port heads.
I was definitely at the limit of the WRX uppipe's flex joint with my setup since the fitment is slightly different from a WRX. After a couple years it was definitely leaking. Currently using a TurboXS uppipe and it works really well.
WRX downpipe will be fine - obviously you'll still need to figure out the rest of the exhaust after the downpipe.

This supports the engine. I don't think you have all the parts you think you have (see post #1). :smt017

this. I suggest you figure out the basic mechanical components first before jumping ahead into how to manage as it will vary with whatever setup you chose.

ok this cross member seems to be a problem cuz i no jack shit about it. u say it holds the motor. so can i swap it out fairly easy or is it a pain in the ass?
Like I said a crossmember from any turbo Subaru like 1990-2007 should work. The engine and transmission sit on it so you will have to jack them up off the crossmember probably. Probably easier to just notch it if you aren't pulling the motor.

If you've got the necessary tools, notching the crossmember is an option. Lots of people have done it in the past with no problems, but I would look into welding in some new supports after. But if you can find an old turbo legacy or something, just pull the crossmember out and use it.
Do some more reading and research before you start tearing stuff apart. Things can get messy real quick otherwise.

That's exactly the turbo I'm using and it boosts to 6 psi running wastegate pressure.

so i should nt have to mess with the wast4e gate then?
Yeah just hook the vacuum hose on the wastegate straight to the nipple on the outlet of the turbo and call it a day.

r there even headers made that r single port to work for my trubo project?
You'll probably have to fabricate something yourself, though someone on NASIOC has thought about making something to sell once:

thanks. single port headers seem pretty simple. i couldnt make em but no ppl who can. and another thing. the turbo uppipe and the wastegate dont look like they wilmatch up. the up pipe has 5 BOLT S turbo only has 3. am i missing something?

Huh? Uppipe connects to the bottom of the turbo, nothing to do with the wastegate...

TO match up with this

Yeah you'll have a couple extra holes for the uppipe but the 3 from the turbo should line up to 3 from the uppipe. Go to the dealer and grab the uppipe to turbo gasket and you'll have the correct gasket too.

i was lookn at some engine management fo rthe turbo kit. The greddy e-manage ulitmate has a plug and play for the BD5! i would stil def have it professional instaled and tuned but it would seem to be a good option. any opionions?

If its plug and play, then you can just install it yourself; because it is plug and play. Tuning should be done professionally however.

ok a cpl more questions jey lol. i was lookin at the avo turbo kit and since i would have to have sum custom headers made i was thinkin it would be easyier to jus make a custom up pipe that connects to the NA headers.any problems with that idea? and also does the wrx downpipe elimate both our stock cats? are u running any cats on ur turbo?
I've got a high flow cat welded into the midpipe and a catless HKS downpipe. I was not even aware the Legacy had 2 cats...

Just so you know the stock wrx downpipe already has a cat. So does the uppipe for that matter.
