Loose cv shafts?

Car is 98 BD w/ ej20g swap stock trans @ 114k miles. I was getting a vibration that felt like a u-joint (not wheel balance). So I jacked the car up and u-joints are 100% in tact, both front cv shafts are loose going into the tansmission though, like up and down wiggle wiggle loose. I even took a pic since I had my phone with me under there. Shafts are worn some but not clicking, clunking just loose. I'm sure it's from too much powaz, since the snow was gone and put summer wheels on I turned the boost to 12psi and had some good pulls. Anyways, on a 5mt apart are there bushings at the output where the cv shafts go in?

There's usually a little bit of play where the axle is close to the tranny, but as long as the pin is in there then they're fine. There are no bushings or seals that go around there - they'd get torn up by the axle rotating.

I think it's more like a lot a bit of play, not too worried about that but wondering if it would be a sign of internal damage or the root of the torque bind. The torque bind feels a lot worse going slow with the wheels turned, I'll probably pull the driveshaft to see if it will still bind without rear drive.

when we did the front diff on the SVX(not sure if leggys would be the same, i think so) ther was one CV with alot of play IN and OUT, but your talking UP and DOWN(right?)

this was caused by a broken C clip on the inside end of the little shaft that the CV splines onto and the other side is in the diff.

when i pulled on the CV shaft to remove it, that little shaft came too.

but if its got play UP and DOWN, maybe a bearing is on its way out..but you would hear that, and if it was flopping that bad i imagine it would tear up that seal.

Yes up and and down play, no in or out and seals don't leak a drop (yes there is fluid to leak if the seals were bad) no bearing noise either. I'll have to bump my wtb 5mt thread, would like a spare to rebuild and figure everything out inside these buggers.
