What should I do?

I have come for some advice on what directon to go with the suspension uner my car.
On the one hand I can go for legacy specific stuff (kyb's & lowering springs) OR I can got over to basicly the same thing just for an 02 wrx and its a little cheaper

either way I am going to be buying all new parts.

if I go the leggy way then I am going to order from tirerack:
kyb gr2's
H&R lowering springs
and camber bolts for the rear

if I go the wrx way i'll have toget all that plus rear wrx tophats

so what one do I go with ? hell with the tophats the price might balance out any one know of a reason to use over the other?

I like using Legacy specific parts because I can predict more accurately the drop and the ride comfort level.

If I were you I would go this route:
ebay: KYB GR2s - $220 shipped from jdmwerks13
SLi/NASIOC/etc: H&R springs or iON performance springs + used GC/Impreza Group N front tophats + used rear BD/BG top hats
camber bolts not needed with this setup unless you don't like -0.5 camber statically in the rear.

If you can, buy used bump stops, dust boots + conical washers as well, that way you can preassemble everything and it makes the install go much smoother. It also means that in a pinch you can swap back if you choose.

However, buying WRX stuff can be a lot cheaper if you buy used parts from someone going to coilovers or back to stock...

after thinking on it i am probably going to to the legacy route, but why would i need to get used rear tophats?

You don't need to, but rear tophats are unlikely to wear out because they have no bearings and if you pee-assemble it makes installation a breeze. I actually have some adjustable camber plates for the front I might be willing to sell... ;)

i think i am going to skip on that offer, if i can find the group n tophats I'll get them but for what i need i'll just get the struts and springs and the camber bolts for the rear in case the factory stuff is off balance, on that note

what do you recon is a good alignment for a dd, that gets taken to autocross as often as possible and is driven hard at times on the street?

Digiphux has the rear camber bolts.

Personally I like -1.0 front and -.5 for the rear but I know peugoboy prefers -.5 front and -1.0 rear I think! If you get something neutral then you can make improvements bAsed on tires etc.
