The Central Pennsylvania Subaru Meet (Dec. 12 2009) *Ended*

We had a pretty good turn out. Almost 30 cars came and about 40 people total showed up, despite the cold weather (like that would ever stop a subaru) See my post page 4 for some pics.

I'm gonna try to put together a Tech/Tuner day for this next summer, and I'll start planning and preparing for next year's meet sooner, so people will have plenty of time to call off work and be ready for it.

Also, if anyone knows of a place that we could put together a rally-x competition for this area, let me know! I would be happy to set it up. Keep an eye out on the forums for whatever is next******


The current Plans for the Central PA meet are as follows:

When: Saturday December 12th 2009, Meet at restaurant at around 12:00ish (There is no specific end time, you can just leave whenever you like)

Who: Any and all Subaru Owners are invited. From Legacies, to Forresters, to STIs, to WRXs, to Imprezzas, to Outbacks, and even Tribecas (regardless of how much I dislike them).... If it's a Subaru, it's welcome. The more the merrier!

What: This will be a Meet and greet where we'll all get together check out each others cars, meet some like minded people in our area, swap stories, and eat some Food. After that, we'll all start up or cars and go for a joyride on the scenic roads of the area. If we can generate enough interest, this might just become an annual event, and maybe later on I'll set up a Central PA Tech/Tuner Day where we can go over some different car maintenance areas. It all depends on you.

If you're a member on another Subaru forum, start up a thread in order to get the word out to as many people as possible. If you do, please send me a link to the thread so I can keep up with what is going on.

You can email me, (Bob) at rmh4097@gmail.com to RSVP or to have your name put on the maybe list. If you decide to just show up unannounced you will still be allowed to hang out, but you'll just really piss me of, so please email me... Include you're name, how many will be in you're party, what town you're from, and what forum you're from (include your forum username too!!) This is so I can have an accurate list of how many people might show up.

im from around pottsville/reading area and tried getting a meet together a long while ago at the schuylkill mall in frackville (where they hold auto-x) but nobody was interested

I'd be happy to help put a meet together, but there is no possible way that I could do it all by myself. I'm not sure about how to put a meet together. Maybe someone who has been to a few meets already can tell me what all goes down. Are there any members in the Harrisburg Area that I would be able to talk to see if I could get some help in putting a meet together?

To answer your question bluntly, evolegacy, I have no Idea when I would be planning this meet.

I'll try to start putting some stuff together.

I'll search for a good place to meet at, that has plenty of parking space and good food. And I'll see what I can do as for a good driving road(s). How long do meets normally last, and about how long are the rides?

Also, any one who is perusing this.... if you think you might be interested in attending, culd you post a little not saying so, so that I can try to have a rough sketch of how many people might attend? Thanks, and I'll see if I can get this ball a-rollin'.

Alright. I'm thinking about having the meet itself staged at a restaurant in Pine Grove. I'm not sure which one just yet. I'll need to make a trip out there sometime this next week or the one after and scope it out for a suitable place with enough parking, decent food, and a gas station nearby.

Now, what kind of driving does everybody like? Do you like going around a lot of twistys or do you like going down a nice simple road with lots of pretty scenery? I'll probably throw a little of both in there to appease everybody, but it would be nice to hear a little discussion on it.

Lastly I'm going to start a list so that we can get a head count of people interested. Just copy the whole list and write down your user name, where your from, and how many will be in your party i.e. Spouse, Kids, etc...

pine grove aint to far from me...theres a couple good resturants in the area.....but its hard to find a place with alot of parking...ill ask my relatives since they all live up there but ill definitely go as long as its on the weekend

im gonna put myself down for a maybe because im not really sure when this is going down, i know i have off the 17th to the 21st in november that i have no real plans for. as far as a place to eat, there is a restaurant called Red Lion that has a bar and great food, but it tends to be a little pricey depending on what you get. Im also from Tower City PA, about a 20 minute jaunt from pinegrove so ill be trying to go if i can, ill be the fat kid in the 00 BE sedan... yeah.. im just that awesome..

Sorry I haven't replied to any of your posts. I've been incredibly busy balancing school, projects, preparing for SATs, and working. The date is either going to be November 21st or 28th, unless you guys would like me to push it back a little further so we try to get as many people as possible. You can suggest a date too if you'd like. I found some great roads out in the Hershey Area, and since Hershey Park is closed, the place will be deserted, so we wont have to worry about any insane traffic. There are plenty of places that would be a good place to meet in that area, and there are also some motels and hotels in the area in case we get some guys that come in from far, far away.

I know of a bunch of good places for off roading, but I'm not much of an off roading kind of guy, so if you guys want to set up something to do that, it's up to you.

Other that, there isn't too much to tell. I'll get a meeting place together within the next few days, so keep tuned for more.

There aren't any holidays around there, and it gives you plenty of time to beg your boss for the day off, and spread the news to all your subaru friends. I will have an exact place and time for you by this weekend. I'm planning for it to take place in the Hershey area. The park is closed this time of year, and becasue of the Hershey is basically a ghost town. There is plenty of nice roads in that area that wind around gorgeous famland, so it should make for a nice ride.

I think we'll be alright with the restaurant. My plan is to just show up there and walk right in. They would have to be stupid to turn a party of hungry people away, plus the place is pretty large and is usually pretty empty until the evening, so I don't think they'll be hard pressed to find the space.

I sent out PMs to a bunch of the people on the maybe list, and I've gotten a couple responses back already. For the sake of my sanity, I'm not going to remove the names and re-number everything, I'm just putting (CANCELED) in big bold at the end of their names so you can know whats up. (and to humiliate them into making sure they go next year.)

I'll add the names that xrturbo posted. I'm not sure who all is on the other threads on the various wbsites, but if someone would be able to send out PMs to the tristate tuner, subaruoutback, and rs25 guys that are on the maybe list to find out if they'll be there or not. Ive already done it for sl-i and legacygt. Thanks to whoever decides to do that, I'll give you a hand drawn trophy for outstanding excellence at the meet. lol.

Yea found that out a while ago when my LEGACY was broken. Good to know that the rest have no holes. Been to allentown for car shows and meets a bunch of times. Real nice area.

Well the meet went great. We had about 25-30 cars show up, with about 40 people total in attendance.

yep it was a great time there was one guy who had a Baja with a one of a kind set up. I'm not to sure of what he had in it but he's on tristate. i stayed till the end and we took a little cruise around Hersey , e town, mount Gretna. none of us cams to take some rolling shot but it was a nice spirited drive. hopefully this will get big in the next few years but it was still a good time.
