Clutch problems...

Hey guys, I'm new here and i just picked up a 98 legacy L wagon. I just got it, and I've noticed that when I am driving there is a weird ticking noise that seems like it is coming from the clutch pedal assembly and I can't figure it out. I also no none about the clutch assemblys and I noticed in the engine compartment where the clutch wire goes into the housing there is a piece that shakes, is this normal? Sorry for my ignorance about Subarus, but I hope someone can help! It functions fine, but is annnoying.

Not sure if this is the same problem, but sometimes my clutch pedal makes little "popping" noises when I push it in. It seems to be temperature related though.
