Mmm, looks promising. I do hope they include lots of older cars; I get tired of all the games with only late-model cars in them.

I just cant imagine how good this game will be after them only realeasing Undercover not to long ago. Its going to have a short story line for sure. We will see, it may be good.

EA typically have different studios working on different titles at the same time, this one looks to be really good - I tend to always find games are about 20-30% worse than I think...I know, really objective scaling huh?

I just don't get excited about all these titles anymore - the graphics are better, the sound is great, but the "OMG I gotta get home to play it" just isn't there anymore.

Still, it's looking great - Dirt 2 vs. Shift could be the Christmas showdown.

I refuse to play any need for speed game. the last few have been garbage, and if I want a legit racing game, I'll just play Forza2.

I've been busy, and haven't had a bunch of time to goof off on the Xbox at all, but if I was going to buy one just based off of advertising alone it would be Dirt 2. Need For Speed: Shift isn't even a remote impulse for me now - I'm more a fan of the original Need For Speed titles, what you might now consider yesterday's Midnight Club/Forza/Gran Turismo.

Just my .02

(I miss seeing World Rally Championship coverage on Speed, so I guess I favor Dirt 2 more, but hey, maybe I'll do some more homework on this issue...)

After NFS: Carbon, I have lost all faith in the series. And speaking of Dirt 2, I played the demo, I wasnt impressed. I miss the old Rallisport Challenge games.

My favorite racing game was always Gran Turismo 3 for the PS2. But when Forza 2 came out, I finally switched over.

It's ok, definitely worth a rent, I'm not sure I'd buy it, maybe if when it gets down to $30ish. The game can be difficult, but online I found it to be kinda easy. The sounds and graphics are quite good as they did a good job capturing the intensity of being in a race car.

I downloaded the psp version off the net... its nothing like the ps3 version at all. Its a completely different game, and it's really gay on top of that. I was pissed. I wanted some real simulation driving for the psp. At least Gran Turismo for psp comes out October 1st. I pre-ordered it over 3 months ago, lol.

I know we live in a post-genre world, so how EXACTLY would you classify NFS:Shift anyway? Is Dirt2 a similar game you can compare it to (or are there more technically correct comparisons)?

I'd say that Dirt is a rally-racing game, and NFS is a tuner/track racing game.

Dude this game is amazing After NFS: Most Wanted (its ok) but then Carbon and Undercover...I think there was another one in there to, I was dead set on holding out for Forza 3 and not even considering Shift but I played the demo at gamestop and its amazing like where in Forza 2 all the cars seemed pretty stable and bland like they all handled pretty much the same, even if you had a super fast RWD car that would over steer it was pretty anti climactic and easy to control by not bottoming out the right trigger and the best view was the 3rd person (car?) view, witch isn't very simulator-ish. NFS: Shift is the real thing it has a grate cockpit view and the BMW M3 GTR you get to Drive actually feels like its got 400+ HP not like in Forza where the car just felt like stock but now just happened to get to a lot higher speed in the straits. At least thats what it feels like to me most of the time. Its pretty Sweet

But Forza 3 Might be a lot better.

Before i was against NFS: Shift. I have not played it and i must say, doesnt look too bad. They need to put a demo of it on xlive.

On a cool note that isnt NFS related....The Forza 3 demo is on xlive. Scenery in is it amazing...cars handle alot better.

Need For Speed Shift is almost exactly like GRID. I've always been able to play racing game on my computer using the keyboard. Just tweak the steering/accelerating/braking settings a bit and I can be a pretty challenging opponent with a keyboard. Now THIS game is giving me trouble. Got the demo and beat all that can be beaten in the demo and won the Pagani Zonda. I can't drive it! It's TOO fast! I lose control of that car so easily with that much hp.. lol, maybe it's too lifelike?? IDK
The game itself is pretty good. Graphics and top notch with the speed blur and the sound is amazing. Damage of course is not lifelike but keeps it a little challenging for the player because the damage affects the car's performance.
I say, give the demo a try and see what you think.

I really like NFS: Shift. The graphics are incredible and the physics are excellent. They are more arcade than is usually good, but still fun. If you are looking for something for you to go on until the end of year, when Forza 3 hits, then I definitely want to let this go.

The game is a great way music is a good movie episodes are great, the only thing that bugs me is control. They wanted to make the game as realistic as possible, but makes it too difficult to play the keyboard. But overall game is recommended to any one.
