So I bought my 97 GT, drove it for 2 weeks, replaced the timing belt, pulleys, water pump and t-stat, upper and lower rad hoses and the radiator then drove it for 400 miles and got the dreaded bubbles in the reservoir and pushing the coolant out of the system. So I've been borrowing a car for a week and a half now but I've found someone I trust to do the work this weekend. I'm gonna have both headgaskets taken care of which will also take care of the leaking valve covers. And I'm also gonna have the new clutch and separator plate and rear main seal done while it is out. I'm glad I only spend 2000 on this car, but it is such a nice GT that it is worth fixing and keeping. I can't wait, I miss it so much.

At least yours lasted longer than mine did, I got 6 days out of mine before it blew a gasket. $600 later and it doesn't leak anything from anywhere. :)

WAHOO!!! got the car back tonight and it is great. Headgaskets and valvecover gaskets are done. Did the clutch and all rear seals, did the tranny snout repair, and replaced the dented rusty oil pan. Would've done the motor mounts but the group-n ones wouldnt just drop in, they were hitting a spot on the crossmember so I'm gonna mess with them myself. It's SO nice having my car back and all set.

How much for all that? I need my valve covers done and my heads will need to be done eventually either way.

You may have to do a little pushing and shoving on the motor to get the Group N mounts to line up.

I gave him 1000 because of all the little extra things he did. He would've done just the headgaskets leaving the motor in the car for 500.

I've read a bit on the motor mounts in these and yea, it's a tight fit, I'll figure it out when I get under there but I might just cut a hair off the metal of the group n mount if it is just a bit in the way.

It's so nice having my car back, I just put 200 miles on it today for work and it is running like a dream right now. The new clutch is taking so much to get used it, it grabs so hard and quick, it's practically on/off. I can't wait till it breaks in a little.
