hey, is there a DIY cam seals anywhere? ive looked, but cannot find.
ive already made my own special tool to hold crank pulley to remove the nut.
i guess my question is:
how do you keep the cam sprockets from turning while removing the nut on them? more homemade special tools?
loosen them while holding crankshaft pulley
or grab onto that big "nut" cast into the sprocket
and any recommendations on what type of grease to use to grease the seals with?
any other thoughts or advice?
this is a 97 gt BTW

i do have a FSM but it is not quite as helpful as i would like, i just want to make sure i dont fuck anything up
also..does anyone have an explination as to why only some places on the timing cover have the rubber gasket between the rfont and back half? or am i missing pieces?
as i go thru this car it is more and more evident that the person who put this motor in was either in a hurry, or just diddnt care.
lots of missing bolts/loose bolts
thanks for the info
and thanks in advance

so after much cursing, and swaering and thinging i fucked up the valves, i got it back together and drive to the beach...and back...
and losing alot less oil...but still smoking/smelll hot..
i guess its coming from the rear seals.. :smt011
its not worth pulling this motor since it has the beginning of crank knock, but if i keep lucas in it it stays quiet...
so im motor shopping...
anyone in the FL region have a nice low mileage motor they want to sell?
i can pick up....
cheers guys..
