Hey all. Name's Devin, from the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis. I have a green 96 Outback 5 speed with 185k on it. Half-inherited the car, the water pump blew around 165k so my Dad and I split the costs/work of fixing that (and some other general overhaulin' to the engine and tranny) so it'd become mine when I got my license. I love the car to death, and don't really plan on ever getting rid of it. It's pretty much stock except for headunit/subs (free from a friend, cheapo walmart headunit and two 10" bazooka subs), and a glasspack (also free, and totally ricey, but still worth it because it's more fun to drive :D).
So yes, hi o/

Lucky! you got a 5speed! I love my car to death also, but i never thought I'd be wanting to keep my 95 wagon forever!
Sounds like you got a pretty solid car. You'll be able to find most, if not all, the info. you'll ever need about legacy's here. Welcome!

Thanks! It has been pretty good, really nothing has happened other than the overhaul (oil and water pump and did heads and a couple tranny bearings) and I had to replace my wheel bearings up front a few k ago. Oh, and the ABS does not exist. Reading these forums make me want to do so much to the thing.... alas, I need money first :\

Yeah money is always important to modify cars lol, but yes, the overhaul should come as a first priority.
silly ABS..... I bet you miss it when it starts to snow!
My wheel bearings are just starting to make their trademark thumping/whomping noise, how much did those cost to replace?

Nah, I don't really miss the ABS, the system had been broken for years (probably a sensor or something, we never bothered to check) and when the pump started leaking, I was really not interested in finding another one. Just need to learn to pump ;) (And I've skidded... once. On a drive from MN to IL in January. And that was with a Uhaul trailer.... but I got it under control before I got to the toll booth, lol.)
The wheel bearings weren't too bad, I paid $85.68 for the two front bearings from Autozone (Timkens) and upon discovering they didn't come with seals, another $26.52 at Napa, haha. So total about $112 for both wheels. My dad and I did the work though, so that's just parts (Presses are nice things to have).
