I'm going to get a roof rack for my BD in the winter for snowboarding. Surprisingly, there are not many Legacys here with an aftermarket roof rack. C'mon, we should look active, people! The VWVortex forum has a 26 page post on roof racks... damn.

Here's last winter's setup for me: Yakima Lowriders with 48" crossbars, and just a standard ski rack for 2 pairs of skis. I'm planning on upgrading so I can actually carry snowboards too.

My 91 SS has a Yakima roof rack on it. I don't think I have any pics of it installed though. I have the Qtowers with the 48" crossbars and two bike trays. One is a Raptor Aero for the g/f's bike and for my bike I have the Forklift tray. I use at least my tray every day during the summer.
It's a little noisy, even with the fairing. But, it's only one for a few months during the summer, I don't ski.
A real tip here: If you build your rack at Yakima/Thule.com it should give you an MSRP. I piece mealed mine on Amazon.com for $240 for everything, brand new, and that was even with a 4 pack of locks. MSRP for my complete rack on Yakima is almost $650. Albeit, it took a couple days to get everything because they were all from different companies, you save some SERIOUS dough this way.

That bike looks nice on that car! Can't wait to get a fairing and put stickers all over it. Damn I know $240 is very cheap for a whole rack, I wonder if I can be as lucky. Damn that's a great deal.

BK with 48" bars, Double Crosses (Low Rider predecessor), hacked fairing. I have 2 Lock Jaws / Raptors as well that do my bike duty.

I found a million and 1 uses for mine. But I guess you could just put it on yours for looks if you're not gonna USE it, but that would be a waste. It might add a whopping 30-40lbs. For me, bikes weren't meant to be in my cargo area. I've had tint ripped by bar ends and sprocket indentations on my seats... not good :smt022

I use mine everyday. Especially with the mud conditions now, no bike is going IN my car.
I actually hauled a paddle boat on top of it last week. It looked ridiculous, but got the job done.
