diesel subie

i have been reading reviews on euro car sites mainly top gear about the diesel boxer motor and if anyone knew if and when is is coming state side? i would love to drive one. from what i have been reading about 50mpg on euro diesel, that would be nice. i heard at one point that it was coming in 2010. any info would be great.

Before this recession and the fuel price plunge, there were 2010/11 rumours/speculation/lies. I don't know if those are still going to hold true, as many of the European makers have retreated from their diesel plans.

I hope Subaru doesn't.

Yeah, diesel would be the awesome in a subaru. If they come to the states I will definitely be buying one. Great mileage and good power gains when tuned. I really hope this happens.

I wouldn't buy any diesel unless it was pre-2008. Pretty much all the manufacturers are having issues with the DPF. Lets face it, putting a filter in the exhaust to collect soot and then injecting fuel on the exhaust stroke at strategic times to superheat the exhaust and burn the soot off is just a bad idea all around.

I've also heard the Subaru diesel is pretty harsh and has a terrible power band.
