1996 Legacy L

Hey guys, I have a 1996 Legacy L and am interested in improving the car seeing as I will be having it throughout my next two high school years. At the end of that time I'm going to purchase a second car, but for now I want to make this one nice. It currently has 102,000 miles on it and ever mechanic we've taken to says that the engine and suspension are both in perfect condition. (sorry I have to keep regurgitating this part in ever post, I just want everyone to have a background on my car)

My car has a lot of paint chips in it and stuff like that, so I want to paint it black. It has non-stock rims that I want to get powdercoated black. I need to know what kind of place would repair the trim on the car, like the hard plastic on the side of the car. I want to replace the front and possibly back light covers and replace them with HIDS (my current headlights are pitiful). Finally, I want to find a resonably priced body kit that will make my car look more modern, less like a 1996 vehicle.

-Remove the trim yourself and paint it black.
-Purchase JDM Projectors from ebay. They are around $200 USD and have a spectacular light pattern and cut off.
-Purchase JDM tail lights from ebay. They are around $200 USD and have no "amber lenses"
-Unless you have lots of money which by the sounds of it "highschool" you do not. The quickest way to "body kit" your car is to find a GT model and take the front bumper which includes a lip, side skirts, and rear lip.
-If you want a non-1996 car you should save and buy a 2000+ car. No mater how much money you drop into your car it will always look like a Gen 2 legacy.

You sure do post a lot. Try searching or just browsing each section for a couple of hours. I know your eager to get started but don't flood the forum with questions that have been answered 1000000000000's of times. Mods will eventually delete your threads if it gets out of hand.

secondly. Check out the Parts bin every couple of days. you will see some Great things up for sale. also, Salvage yards! some will let you go out to the vehicle its self, others will not. check out what they have ever month or so. you might see a Stereo upgrade, or better seats from an outback. like chuck said, GT bumper and side pannels (OEM "body kit"). OEM spoilers, GT hood etc. Have fun with your car! do what you want to make it yours. remember. you are driving it and modding it for you. not anyone else. Just don't take it off road like I did with my first legacy wagon.

it was fun but midway through the air at 40mph I thought "Oh crap"....bottomed out the suspension and hit a rock.
basically looked like this but not that high. the highest I got was like a foot and a half.
