I am currently running 2 10" subs and 2 amps in the trunk (came w/ the car). Audio is not really that important to me, but performance is. I was wondering whether removing the sub setup will make a noticeable difference in weight savings? Anyone know how much a similar setup weighs?

2x 10" subwoofer (average 16-24lbs) depending on the size of the magnet, quality and if its a SVC or DVC.
1x 1000 watt amplifier (10-15lbs) depending on 4-ch / mono class d/ etc
1x Dual 10" subwoofer enclosure (40-60lbs) depending on MDF construction or fiberglass.
-Not including 8-0 gauge wire

---------
Min weight = 66lbs
Max weight = 99lbs

A Sony Xplode/Kenwood woofer will weigh less then a Pheonix Gold/Clarion/JL Audio woofer.

Your better off removing your spare tire, jack, tire iron, removing insulation from the floor/roof/trunk. Or go on a diet :-D

it's like having a small person in your trunk all the time...not that I would know anything about that  :smt005

i noticed a little tiny difference when i took my 12 out i think it was mostly just my driving not wanting to hurt the speakers on dirt roads though.

I can feel a difference in response in my AutoX car from when I have it in street mode (sub/amp/spare tire) to when I have it on the AutoX course with the trunk stripped. On the street it wont make much difference and its more important to be comfortable, but you will always drive faster if the car is at its lightest and you don't have to worry about things flying around back there. On the other hand, some of my fastest AutoX runs have been with the trunk stripped but with my mom riding in the passenger seat. Just goes to show you that the weight itself doesn't really matter, but maybe the placement of the weight does!
