"Brake" light is on, on my girlfriend 1995 lsi. What does this mean, what needs to be fixed?

check the brake pads then the fluid level.
the fluid might be low because the pads are worn ie more of it stays down in the calipers :D

as the above post said, if thats it, it will be fixed as soon as the pads are replaced and fluid is filled.

with most 95' LSi Legacy you can have the brake system scanned and find out what is causing the light. could be an ABS pump issue or a wheel speed sensor.

Thats the ABS light, not the standard brake light.
What was said above. If your pads are worn down all the fluid will be in the calipers and trigger the light. Don't just top off the fluid without investigating if the pads are good.

It could be the E-brake sensor getting grounded out somewhere. the E-brake light is the red one in the center of the dash.
