switch ? what is it for

I have a 99 legacy outback limited with the cold weather package there is a switch on the middle console that appears to be for the window defroster but there is one on the dash is this a boost or something :?:

Wiper de-Icer I believe, but I'm no OB owner :smile: I could be mistaken.

Middle console (between the seats) switch are heated seats.

mirror heat is on dash by mirror control,its not the seat heater it is separate from them

It's the front Wiper de-Icer.

The windshields on the cold weather package are supposed to be heated. The dash switch is for the rear window defroster, the center console switch grouped by the heated seat switches is for the heated windshield. Some people seem to think it's a wiper de-icer, dealer told us when the car was new that it was a heated windshield. It may be both, I'll take a look at the manual for my car and see if it says anything more.

I've got this as well, always wondered what it was. I'm pretty sure my car had the cold weather package at the beginning of its life but since it has been wrecked, rebuilt and swapped it lost all its goodies along the way. The console switchpanel is still there though.
