I have a 1998 Legacy Postal RHD with automatic. I hum right down the freeway just fine. I exit the freeway and come to a stop and the engine stalls and dies. I re-start the engine and the vehicle will not accelorate up to speed. Any ideas?
Also does anyone know the part number for the (rear) speed control sensor for this vehicle? I have replaced the front sensor and my speedometer still does not function.
Thank You for any suggestions or help. Jerry

The stalling may be related to the speed sensor, I would fix that and see how it goes.

Does it only die on deceleration, or does it run poorly during other conditions?

It will also sputter and not accellerate after the stall. If I get back on the freeway I can only go about 45 top speed. If I shut it down for a few mins. and start up again it will run Okay once again.

i have had similar problems like this on my 97 gt. driving along usualy in the city, come to a stop light or stop sign, clutch in and go to neutral, breake slightly, car shuts off and keeps roling. i have tried to get it to do it but i cant it just does it randomly. so far it hasnt been too much of a problem but its annoying. granted i have a bad speed sensor as well. and i started doing it after the sensor went out. so i am going to guess it has someting to do with the sensor as well.

i should be installing a new speed sensor this week. hopefuly it stops shutting off, if not i am not sure what it is.

My 98 automatic has 2 speed sensors. I replaced the front one, I need to replace the rear sensor now to see if it repairs my problem.
