Multiple Foglight Questions...

Hi folks. I have a couple questions relating to the stock foglights, and adding aftermarket ones. So here we go... Hope to get a few answers... haha in all situations I plan on adding the stock USDM foglights. (99' Legacy Wagon L, has the wide foglight openings, with the black panels in there...)

1.) If I used USDM foglights (55w) and added two extra foglights (55w each), would that cause an excessive load on the electrical system? (stock)
My thought is that it would not be a problem. Currently the car does not have fog lights, so it would be an additional 20amp load when they are all on (110w/12v=9.17amp draw times two, roughly 20amp total).

2.) Would there be any issue / bad light output if I were to run driving lights (15* wide pencil beam) mounted in the lower air opening (same spot as the GT-B Limited)? Would they be of little use mounted that low? (I know kinda wierd question... don't really know how to ask it. haha)
I am looking at the Hella 500FF to go inside of the main fogs. I think that a driving light beam would be nice in normal driving (low beams, fogs and driving) and then turning them off in bad weather. But then again if the were aimed low enough.... I know that the lights come in both fog and driving beams. I was just thinking i guess......

Yes do the math and make sure you have the right load fuse for your lights and you'll be fine.

500FF is a better choice for low mounting points, I have the driving lights and the beam is too narrow to really cover the equivalent of low beams unless you mount them higher.

Thanks. I was planning on using either a 15 or 20amp fuse for each set of 55w lights. Should be just right. Lol I might see what the stock foglight was fused for. I was also planning on upgrading to a better/new battery. I was thinking the driving lights would be nice to brighten up the center area of the low beam. Thanks again for the help.

Edit: Ok there is a new battery going in no matter what. Lol the one in there now is 10 years old...

Ok... This is starting to drive me crazy. lol I have been looking into round lights to install in the lower grill. Most of the Hella and PIAA units I have been looking at are large, about 6-7" in diameter. I did find one PIAA unit, the 510, that is just under 4" round. Just about perfect. However, every picture shows it with a black grill over the front.... Does anyone know if this comes off?.... For that matter, does anyone have any sudjestions 3-4" round fog/driving lights? lol any help would be great. Here is a picture of what they all show.

I did a ton of research into this area a while back, and what I found was that there weren't a lot of good quality reflector style lights in that size range, there are some Pilot Automotive lights that fit that size range, but I would recommend instead Blazer fogs with 3000K HID bulbs installed.
