5mt clutch vs 6mt clutch

looking at a new clutch for when i do the swap. if i get a clutch that is made for the 5mt will it work when i swap out to the 6mt? also im goin with os genkin twin plate.

only if your 5speed clutch is a turbo-style pull clutch can you reuse yours. The 5 speed clutches are about 10mm smaller dia. than the sti one.

so has to be pull? pull is were the slave is mounted aft of the clutch fork?

yes, the slave has to be pushing the fork towards the front of the car, otherwise it's not the same style clutch as the sti one.

SUPER RESURRECTION. is there a way of converting a cable clutch into a hydraulic one?

Yes. certain later transmissions (including my 98 n/a impreza) have the bolt holes on the tranny case for the slave cylinder, and the pivot pin (that the clutch fork rests on in the bellhousing) has two positions - you merely switch holes for the pin.

Swap to hydraulic pedals, install clutch master and slave cylinders, hydro clutch fork, hydro specific clutch kit including flywheel, bleed the system and you're golden!

I'm not sure what years started to get them, and AfAIK the early 90s Legacy stuff didn't have the dual pivot pin holes.

thanks for the response. i have the bolt holes on my cable clutch 5mt legacy..i have been running an STI engine for the past 2 years no problem...taking gravel launches well too. was just thinking i would be an upgrade you know..to harness more power and give more feel?? wow the flywheels are also different?
