ok i bought a jdm engine to replace my blown motor from my legacy outback wagon 1998 ....
-replaced the intake manifold and all sensors plug in no problem
-valve cover gasket = USDM - has different gasket but i modified it by cutting some part to fit
-WATER PUMP = totally different, JDM - has their water outlet on the side. USDM- water outlet on the bottom . Has anyone tried to replace their waterpump and used USDM WP in their JDM engine. it looks like it would fit,
...... NEED your help guys.. need to get my subbie back on the road.. thanks again...

when i swapped mine out for the same reason, but everything matched up fine for me. I have a 98 GT and swapped the US EJ25 for the JDM EJ25, only thing i had to do was drill and tap a hole into the block for the EGR pipe for emissions BS, you sure its an EJ25?

Engine code is usually stamped on the block near the back, and that looks like a Forester engine. The USDM waterpump should be fine to swap over, as long as it matches up.

Finally got my JDM motor built, and yes the USDM water pump fits, BUT.... the JDM timing cover does not. Mine needed to be trimmed to fit around the curve the USDM water pump has for its outlet. No biggie, but now you all know. :smt023
