i have a quick qustion about first gen legacy turbo exhaust. the stock system is getting old and i was thinking if i can use any of the USDM STI (04-07) and put them onto my 92 Legacy turbo?? is it direct bolt on for all these parts, up-pipe, down pipe, headers and cat-back?
thanks for any inputs

It won't be direct bolt on, you'll most likely have to have some parts modded to fit. But it's not a bad way to go if you can find a complete system for near-free.

i know for a fact that wrx stuff from those years will fit. header/up pipe and downpipe will fit without a hitch. all that has to be modified is the extension pipe has to be like 6 inches longer and maybe a few hangars bent. so if sti stuff is the same which i think it is its a piece of cake to install.

It will need some length added to the midpipe and some hangers moved. But that should be an easy and relatively inexpensive task for an exhaust shop.

good stuff! thanks for the help guys. one last thing, do the 92 Legacy turbo have a cat on the stock up-pipe??

nope not on the up pipe. theres one in the downpipe and one in the extension pipe.
i have a 3" turbo back exhaust with a single 3" magnaflow high flowing metallic substrate cat. just went for an e-test and passed with flying colours. the cat cost only 100$ so it was nothing compared to oem cats and gives virtually no back pressure while working just as good or better.
just something to think about
