hey guys,
i recently decided to do a head swap on my ej25d to get rid of some bent valves. i bought some reconditioned ej25d heads from a fellow member, and they were in excellent condition, and i was very happy with them. the only problem i have is that they didnt come with valve covers (which i knew when i bought them) but i figured that mine would be the same seeing where i am swapping out heads from the same motor. the only problem is... they arent lol. so i went to the dealer to see if i could get new valve covers that work with the new heads, but they wanted a vin number. i talked to the member i bought them from to try to get a vin, and he didnt have it, but he said that there are only 2 different styles of valve covers for this motor. from 96 to 97 the gasket around the spark plug is square, and from 98 to 99, they are like a pear shape. only problem is, the heads are from canada, so i think things are a bit different there year-wise? because my car is a 97 and the gasket around my spark plugs is the pear shape... i wish i had pictures... does anyone know what im talking about lol?
i guess the questions i am trying to ask are:
on usdm EJ25Ds, there are only 2 different types of valve covers?
does anyone have a p/n for the valve cover with the square spark plug holes?
p.s. this was in no way the sellers fault. i received exactly what i bought, and he has been very helpful to me through the whole thing, i was just stupid and didnt look into it more to make sure everything was the same. i just want to make sure the information i have is 100 percent correct before i walk into the dealer and possibly make myself look like an idiot...
