Guru's: I need some help!

Car:
2001 LGT Limited Sedan

The remotes/keyless entry doesn't work. A new engine was put in the car, and before that, everything worked perfectly. Now, not so much.

When the doors are locked and the last one is shut, the horn honks and the light on the dash flashes. So it "kinda" works.

I have the alarm booklet and I've tried the ignition cycling to try and program the remotes, but no luck. On my 98 there is a little plunger button under the dash that is used, but I don't think the little security module is even located there.


So, knowing that the system arms when the doors are locked, how do I get it to program? Is there a "reset" switch or anything? And the remote battery is perfectly fine.

Thanks Huffer. I've tried that before, but I can't recall if I had my foot on the brake or not. I'll try it this evening.

This is making me kind of crazy. Such a simple deal yet so tough to figure out.

The key was to disconnect the battery I guess. Finally got it into the programming mode after disconnecting the battery for about 20mins and then reconnecting and going straight to the programming step. My wife is quite pleased with me now that her remote works! And that the horn doesn't honk anymore.
