Muffler Fittings.

The other day I went to a car show and found out a decent 99 GT-Legacy Wagon.

The owner replaced the muffler (SOA8376400) to the SPT muffler. I am wondering will this muffler fit the 99 Legacy Outback Wagon (the 30th year edition?), if so, will this be a DIY item?
