Hey,

thinking about buying a double DIN for my 97 legacy gt sedan. will this fit? and is good?
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Sony-WX-GT77UI-Doubl ... 53dd345252 (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Sony-WX-GT77UI-Double-DIN-CD-MP3-USB-iPod-Car-Stereo_W0QQitemZ360193479250QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Audio_In_Dash_Receivers?hash=item53dd345252)
If not what will fit and what is good?
I want the ipod feature out of the back, and would love a place for a SD card(if they make them like that). Any help would be great. Oh and I want to keep it below $250.00

looking for something for a little more $. Double din needs to be just over 6.5inches. Unless there is a way to fit a 7inch double din into the spot in the dash.

Well unlucky me, I blew something in my piece oh crap pioneer cd player today. It could have something to do with the new speakers I just put in... Doesn't matter to me, other then the 2 days of silence I'm about to face, but I have a new Double Din coming and it should be here thursday or friday.

mines a 6.5" but i also have a volume knob and buttons down the side. im sure if you found a full touch screen with no buttons that was a 7" it would fit. look on mine...if the whole thing was a screen and no buttons or a knob, it would probably be a 7" screen

My Kenwood has a USB port I can put wherever I want (mines in the center console by the heated seat switches). The usb port on the Kenwood can accept a iPod USB cable (you can control the iPod through the headunit), and I also have a mini USB to SD adaptor that work in the Kenwood's USB port.

I eneded up getting a Sony WX-GT77UI. Has the Ipod plug in out the back which I ran under my center console to my storage container thingy.
I love it cause you can control the ipod from the head unit like chaksq said, so you don't have to worry about ever fooling around with the ipod while driving.
My next purchase will be one of those all in one touch screen double dins with GPS built in.

I'm thinking about getting a new double din. Something with iPod outlet, as well as maybe a SD card.
Bluetooth, possibly touch screen.
But I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on it.
Any suggestions?

doesn't exist....sorry. If you want the nice things, you gotta spend the money for it. It's kinda like wanting a nice 6 bedroom house for $100,000. Sure you could find a 6 bedroom house for that price, but it's gonna be a piece of crap.

I know its not something I can get for a steal of a deal, but I'm looking for something cheap. around $500-700.

I know what you mean, the ebay ones kind of concern me. They look alright, but not amazing. I'm sure it would work but I want something that looks a little better.

If your budget is 5-700 then you're fine. I spent 550 on mine, it was(at the time) a brand new kenwood back in 08 and have never had a problem. The only thing it didn't have was nav, the unit with the nav was 800. I already had a garmin so i got the 550 one. when you said cheap, i thought you meant like 200 bucks

Sorry,
Should of been more specific in my post above.
I've seen some really nice ones lately at Future Shop here in Canada for relatively cheap.
Might be a early christmas present to black betty.

does anyone know if there is a double din dash kit for my 96 outback 2.2? Been looking but only thing I've found is for a single din mount. Anyone have any ideas?

Since this thread was bumped, is there any way I can make this fit in my BE?

Like if I took out the dividers between two sections

You should have two dins than you can put it in, the one that your current stereo is in, and above or below is a pocket right? at least that is how mine was. So just remove the old stereo and the din pocket, and there you go, 2 free dins where you can put it.

I have a 7 inch touchscreen in my 97 Legacy L. Little fitment work was needed because the motorized face would rub on the top of the bezel but it fits like a glove! its a JVC KW NX-7000, has sd card usb gps

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install a double din stereo on a 96 outback 2.2 (MT)? It looks like I can fit it but I cant find a dash kit to use and Crutchfield is no help. Any ideas?

Yes the 2nd gen Legacy can accommodate a full double DIN head unit. You don't need a dash kit for standard DIN head units.

when you pull the trim off around the stock radio, theres 4 screws going through some brackets, 2 on each side of the radio. when you pull the radio out, just remove the brackets from the radio and put them on the radio you plan on putting in the car, most aftermarket double dins have threaded holes on the side just for cars that have factory double dins. this elliminates the need for a mounting kit.
