Basically I have no heat at idle but super hot when I am moving.

My t stat is only about 20k miles old and on it's 2nd winter.

Water pump has 20k on it too, I'm wondering if i've got engine issues where the hg's might be allowing air into the system. I am replacing my coolant tank for my turbo and putting in a block heater soon. If it peecist after that i'll be confused. Unless the heater core is semi clogged?

Could be the heater core. I was wondering if you had done a throttle body coolant delete mod, and maybe got some air into the heater core when you did that.

check the fluid level too I've had that happen when I was low in the forester. also check for air bubbles like said.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be an intake manifold gasket leaking

Well I put in like 20 oz of water and it's still a little cold at idle but a lot better, tomorrow I'm fixing my over flow leak I have and putting in my block heater, so it should be good!!!

That's probably your problem. car gets hot, coolant flows into the overflow through your cap, coolant leaks out of overflow. Car cools down, pulls in air from the overflow.

The overflow is actually fairly important.
