I was wondering if it is possible to install paddle shifters or a slap shifter on the car. The whole thing is I am used to buying a manual, but this time I bought an auto! The woman cannot drive a stick (get your minds out of the gutter!) and sometime she will have to drive this when I take the Xterra out to pull the boat, fish, off road, camp, or whatever. Just want to see what all would have to be involved and if it is easy and not a rediculous amount of money I might customize something.

well if you mean like a dsg type race shifter, there are companies that make wrc style shifters for the subaru 5spd...it just cost a couple of grand...

No I know I can do that! I was wondering if since you can shift 1st, 2nd, and 3rd is there a way to make a slap/auto stick or maybe even conver to a paddle shifter. I still shit the car like it is a stick cause I drive like a crazy bastard!

i was powesliding (if you can call it that) in the rain around conners and shifting for 1st to 2nd is tough and not very reliable.

Well, Subaru has already made the 'paddle" part. Wouldn't it just be a matter of retrofitting an ECU (and I'm sure some other stuff from a Japanese car?
This is the steering wheel (look at the shifter part as well) I'm talking about:

Hello and welcome back to reality! :smt006 You have any idea what a cluchless seqencial trans will cost? Is this a true fact though? I do not see anything bad in downshifting, but I am new to automatic!
