Need expert advice...Please take a minute...

I have a 98 LGt with A full STI drivetrain. Also has Tanabe STI fitment lowering springs which sit just a bit too low. Then i got some H&R legcay springs and put those on and it barely raised the car at all. I attributed that to weight of STI drivetrain. Now I bought a set of stock 06 sti springs and when compared side by side to the H&R LGT springs they are they are almost the exact same height. WTF? I'm afraid if i put them on they too will be just a bit too low.

SO one of my questions is: Will LGT lowering springs and stock STI springs, that are physically the same height, have the same impact on the ride height of my LGT? Someone with some Subie skills will know this...

Well, part of your ride height issue is that the struts do play a part in the raising/lowering process. For example, people who want a lift on their stock Legacy, will go with Outback or even Forester struts.

Stock STI suspension tends to lower the 95-99 Legacy without any other mods, so it's not surprising the Tanabe's are pretty low. H&R springs are again, a lowering spring, so...

It also dependns on the stiffnes of the spring the stiffer the higher it will sit but harsher/sportier ride will be.

Theoretically yes, but remember the stock STi suspension (struts + springs) already lower a BD/BK.

I bet if you paired the STi struts with WRX springs you'd get a bit of a raise.

Spring rates are important too - but don't confuse lower/shorter springs with stiff spring rates. Spring rates can be set independent of spring height.

Ok so the stock STI springs raised the car bout an inch. So i have kyb agx's and stock STI spings on the car and it sits nicely.
When i compared the tanabe gf210's to the stock sti springs there were some interesting observations. The rear GF210 was physically taller then the stock spring but still made the car sit lower. It was also a progressive spring and felt much softer then the stock sti spring. The front GF210 was a little shorter then the stock spring but only by a bit. I'm glad this is over... :smile:
