Just something I've thought about while here at work :grin:

People should post up what games they own to see what we could get together and play sometime, I usually play GTA!V with Perdue and a friend, but a little SL-i gaming wouldn't hurt. I'm up for:

GTA IV, Call of Duty 4, and others, I have/can get anything (my brother works at gamestop), so let see what you've got!

I don't have Xbox Live Gold status... only silver. I'm cheap. :P

Your not missing much I am on my 5th xbox. Most of them died due to the RRoD (red ring of death) ARRRRRRRGGGG!!

Microsoft wont honor their warrenty and when they do they just send you a referb'd console.

Sorry you've had bad experiences, i only just got the Red Ring of Death after having one of the first consoles since they came out and Microsoft was great about replacing it. I don't regret getting it one bit.

Rumor has it that the non hard drive one will be dropping down to $199 ( F U Wii :twisted: )

I'm thinking since most have Call of Duty 4, a little shoot 'em up is in order.

I'm still on my first original xbox that i bought used from someone on ebay. Heres the secret.....buy a laptop cooling pad and put it underneath. Red rings are caused by the box overheating and melting the connections. Don't block any of the vents and cover it when not used.

I appreciate the insight but before I got my legacy I was modding xbox's

I'v done everything from new x-clamps, AS5 thermal paste, 2x60mm exhaust fan, 1x80mm top mount and anything else I am forgetting.

the biggest problem with the xbox is theres no turbo timer :-p

If your playing for +4 hours and decide its a good time to just turn off your xbox. It just turns off leaving the cpu/gpu cooking under a block of metal.

And leaving external fans around the xbox really does nothing.

I lost 2 of my xbox due to bejeweled sessions...

I have the Arcade version of the Xbox... have done an 8hr marathon on Mass Effect... I have it sitting on the lowest level of my entertainment center and my receiver is above it, there's a good 4" of clearance to help heat evac.

I'd hook you up with one from my brother, but I'm not sure if it would be cost effective, the shipping, paypal/money order would probably offset the discount :roll:

I believe when that update comes the 360 will also utilize the hard drive for storing part of a game to speed up load times like the PS3.

Fifth and third 360's? Wow. Mine just died finally about a month ago. ROD finally got me after having it since launch. The repair was free though so I can't complain.
