    Subaru Resource Part Lookup Software

    I've downloaded and installed Subaru Resource (link), the same software that the guys behind that parts counter use. I've been fiddling with it to no end but can't get it to work. have any of you had any luck? It seems a commenter on the torrent is having the same issue:

    "I converted the .daa to .iso, ran setup for the parts catalogs, directed Subaru-Fast 2 Setup to the IMPREZA_LEGACY and LEGACY&L&JSERIES directories, and then ran Retrieve Parts Number. Clicking '?' gave and error suggesting I don't have the right CD-ROM, and so does entering a valid VIN. I tried mounting the .iso, I tried using the directories on the .iso instead of the copies on my HDD. I'm stuck."

    And that's it, I followed the instructions that came with the software very closely. Has anyone got it working?

    You'll likely need a .daa to .iso converter, there are a few out there, this is the one I happened to use: http://www.softpedia.com/downloadTag/DAA+to+ISO

    Re: Subaru Resource Part Lookup Software

    pfffft converting disc images.. Thats so 1997

    http://www.Magiciso.Com/download.Htm

    Solution:
    You need to specify the CD for the FAST-2 system.

    You must copy the directory LEGACY&L&JSERIES and IMPREZA&LEGACY to C:\Subaru* (some installations give Subaru~ or SubaruEx2)
    --> I added a folder called CD just to help with navigation

    --> Start->Programs->Subaru-FAST 2-> 2) SETUP

    Click Browse

    Click OK

    --> Start->Programs->Subaru-FAST 2-> 1) Retrieve Parts Number

    Re: Subaru Resource Part Lookup Software

    Okay, I did everything exactly as you did in the picture but still can't get 1) Retrieve Parts Number to work properly.

    So, I need one of those downloads you gave? What's the difference between the 200MB and the 700MB sets? Does the 700MB one contain everything the 200MB one does and more?

    Also, you can use Tucan Manager to automatically queue up and download Rapid Shares: http://www.tucaneando.com/

    Re: Subaru Resource Part Lookup Software

    Whats the error that you are getting? Try uninstalling FAST2 and manually deleting the C:\SUBARU~ directory. Then reinstall and start over.

    The larger the file size the more models it supports. The 700mb includes:

    Models Europe:

    * Legacy B11
    * Legacy B12
    * Legacy B13
    * SVX C12
    * E12 D11
    * IMPREZA G10
    * IMPREZA G11
    * IMPREZA G12
    * VIVIO R13
    * FORESTER S10
    * FORESTER S11

    Models USA:
    * Legacy B11
    * Legacy B12
    * Legacy B13
    * SVX C12
    * IMPREZA G10
    * IMPREZA G11
    * IMPREZA G12
    * FORESTER S10
    * FORESTER S11
    * B9 TRIBECA W10

    Thanks for the rapidshare batch downloader.

    Okay, I've uninstalled everything. Should I reinstall from the Subaru Resource torrent, or does the 700mb image I Rapid Shared replace that?

    Re: Subaru Resource Part Lookup Software

    I appreciate you walking me through this, I'm sure others will find it helpful in the future. Okay, so I installed from the 700mb image like you instructed, and tried to use it when mounted to H:\ as the location of the car information in 2) Setup, that didn't work. So after that I copied LEGACY&L&JSERIES and IMPREZA&LEGACY from the torrent to C:\Subaru~1\CD\, and pointed 2) Setup to them instead. 1) Retrieve Parts Number is still giving the same error:

    When I click the question mark:
    "Applicable model (It is specified on the Setup Screen)
    doesn't exist in this CD-ROM.
    Please insert the correct CD-ROM."

    When I enter my VIN:
    "Not found this Vin-No.
    Reason 1: unacceptable this Vin-No.
    Please enter the correct Vin-No."

    It may be worth noting that I'm running Windows 7 64-bit RC1, though I don't expect that to be an issue.
