What's up with all the BD's? They all just go into the box, are you guys using the box as an air filter and just replacing the tubing or is there a high flow, conical filter on the end of that pipe somewhere?

You might be able to but why? If you're NA and you add an intercooler it's not going to do much for cooling the intake air and the inlet for the intercooler is underneath it. Plus where are you going to put the MAF?

I think you two are over analyzing what I said..of course there is no need to have it perform as an "intercooler"...I was just thinking since my hood is on it would be nice to put the functionality of the scoop to use...and if somehow I could use a different filter in that by punching out all the metal in the middle it could kinda work..someone on here has something like what I'm thinkin, haven't been able to find it again

    What car do you have?
First off 00-04 legacys have EJ25, also they have a MAP, while earlier legacys have a MAF. so that one would probably not work for you.
I'm not sure about the second one as far as MAP/MAF but where the intake goes into the fender will probably not line up if you put it on a different model than it is intended for, though this probably can be fixed by making your own hole.

I have a 1999 legacy L. And oh i see, you're right. I just sorta wanna get like a legit air intake system that gets rid of the stock airbox and has places where you can connect the vacuum lines, instead my ghetto system lol

    Re: Custom intake setups

Ive been researching this whole snorkus delete thing and im kinda worried. Like when i took out all my stock intake crap did i delete the snorkus? cause everyone is saying its located inside of the passenger fender area, but i havent taken anything out of there. I just know snorkus delete can lead to the car running very rich. And i'd like to avoid that

    Re: Custom intake setups

What year Legacy? The older ones have a snorkus but I think they moved all the silencer plumbing into the engine bay for later models.

Deleting your snorkus will have almost no effect on the air/fuel mixture.

    Re: Custom intake setups

Newbie question. Recently got a 96 2.2 Subie Outback and thinking of adding an intake. What do you guys recommend? And what is a snorkus? (pardon the ignorant newbie) I saw an intake kit (can't remember where) where it looks like there is a low powered fan of some sort, making it sorta like a forced induction type of intake. Any feedback on those?

    Thanks.

    Re: Custom intake setups

one of 3 different settups I did with just a nissan adapter plate redrilled for subaru and a $40 filter. the best was the MAF-adapter plate directly on the intake manifold, I had to cut holes in the MAF housing for the return lines and stuff but it worked and it was LOUD!! sounded soooo good and the filter was rite behind the hood scoop so I guess it was ram air or at least the air was cold.
if I wanted to lower my car I'd have gotten a GT!
