    Spring Compressor

Anyone know which one is good? My refund is due soon and time for some upgrades as well as engine work.

    Re: Spring Compressor

yeah but they make you leave a deposit and all ebay is not that bad.

I will be getting a compressor and impact for other reasons too but I figure it would help on this too.

also Shane you said you had H&R springs right? Going to still have them in Feb?

+1 on the getting the deposit back.. its free... unless you break it. Why waste money when you can do the same thing for free.. always? any time you need them.. they are there.

    Re: Spring Compressor

Coil spring compressors suck. http://www.letsbuyit.co.uk/product/2...compressor-set They are hard to work with and they are scary. I've used them successfully three times, but recently they just didn't compress enough to do the strut from my mini-van. It cost me $50 to get a shop to do it. This is still just a fraction of the cost of having a shop do the entire job. You can probably find one that will do it cheaper too. If you really must purchase a compression tool get a real strut compressor. http://www.strutspringcompressor.com...mpressors.html

Sometimes when using simple spring compressors on struts the strut flange will get in the way of the screw shaft, that's when it gets scary.

    Re: Spring Compressor

I installed lowering springs on my impreza once and they were short enough that I did not need a spring compressor for installation. Just rent a spring compressor at your local parts store. Its the safest way to do it.
