got some new tints on yesterday. 18% sides and back. Also booked in to spray the rear lower lip, moulded mud guards and skirts next Wednesday which will clean the car up a lot. Picking up some SSR Type C 18 x 8 on Saturday too. It's all starting to come together!!

Looks GREAT man! The wheels will really set it off.

The tint looks nice too from what i can tell. Did you do it yourself or have a shop do it?

Also if you could compare, is the 18% a big change from 25%?

Ive been in cars with 5% and 25%, Id like a healthy median myself, 5% is too much. Plus it isn't legal to begin with where I'm located =P

Thanks mate can’t wait to get the wheels on, I’ll post up some pics as soon as I swap them over!!

I buddy of mine runs a tint shop here in oz so I got him to put them on for me. There isn’t really much of a difference between 18% and 25%. I have 20% on my Australian delivered Liberty (see pics here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15927 ) which I was going to use but he got this new 18% film he wanted to try so we decided to put it on and see how it looks. He’s trying to find the same grade of film used for the privacy glass on the JDM cars and this is about as close as he can find at the moment. I have 5% on my Subaru Sherpa (see pics here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16323 ) but they are almost a bit to dark in my opinion. The look great and certainly make it almost impossible to see into but at night it’s quite hard to see out of from the inside so I think somewhere in the region of 18% - 25% is perfect.

In Australia 35% is the darkest legal tint for Australian delivered cars but there is a loophole for personally imported vehicle where mods don’t fall under ADR standards so you can basically do anything you want!!

Also heres a pic of the interior and the engine bay since I haven’t posted pics of those yet. You can’t quite tell in the first pic but there is a JDM STI cluster in there

yeah 25 was what i was going to go with but i saw the 18 and i rethought it. If its not much of a difference then ill prolly just stick to the 25. lol 35 is most allowed in Pennsylvania too man. your interior is nice too though. and the swap looks cleanly done. I love it.

I really want to pick up a mail carrier wagon over here in the states this summer, i think a RHD would be tons of fun and most of all unique over here. I want your steering wheel too, btw. Been lookin for a JDM wood grain momo forever!

Ill have to keep watchin your posts here. The justy is sweet too!

Yeah 35%, as I mentioned previously, is the darkest legal tint here in Australia too but you would be very unlucky to ever get defected for it. Most tuners I know go for 20% or 25% without ever getting hassled by cops etc.

The interior is pretty much stock except for the Gen 3 GT-B seats but I think I’m going to swap them out for some GC8 buckets sometime in the future. I’m also about to swap in an all leather GT-B MOMO wheel for the wood grain one so if your are really interested I could look into cost etc to ship it over to the USA for you if ya wanted? Let me know and I’ll get a quote for you

Re: aekOne's 96 Legacy GT (V4 STI Conversion)

Told you those wheels would set it off

Id be super interested in the wheel but only in about 3 weeks. Just finishing the semester of school up this week, waiting for the full time job to get rolling again.

I'll PM you my ZIP code, if you wanted to quote it for me and you're gonna have it for a little while, maybe we can work that out if shipping doesn't cost too much!

Loving everything you've done so far though. very nice!

It was a standard audm grill. i was thinking of colour matching over the chrome and paint it the same silver as the car?? or just leave it coz i'm lazy lol

That's cause they don't exsist! The face lift rear bumper lip is actually just a part of the bumper, it IS the bumper. The bumper is shaped to make it look like it has a rear lip bolted on, unlike the pre face lift where it actually was a bolt on. So if you want the face lift rear lip, you gotta buy the whole bumper.

At least this is the case on the BG5C's, i've taken my rear bumper off and had a close look.

Haha yeah sorry that's what i meant

I’ve actually own 2 Gen 2’s, my other one is a (MY98) and i know all about the bloody bars. I got rear ended a couple of years ago and luckily I got it repaired through insurance who replaced all the parts from Subaru. I tried to do the guy who hit me a favour and find one at the wreckers etc so he didn’t need to go through insurance but just like now, no dice.

Thanks mate really happy with the way it's coming along!

Here's a clip of me at wakefield park raceway:

I also just got a set of Biot Trios coilovers which i'm gonna put in on the weekend. I had to get some k-sport rear top hats as they were from a GC8.

Went to Hooters last night for our SubyClub monthly meet and took a couple of pics. Funny how a good camera can make a nugget actually look pretty decent

    Hi There.

Noticed you replaced the monsoons on your Legacy..

Do you know where I can purchase these as I want to replace mine on the GT.

    Thanks

    Paul.

Re: aekOne's 96 Legacy GT (V4 STI Conversion)

Hi paul, sorry for the late reply mate! i order the new monsoons through Subaru Australia. They were able to get them in from Japan for me. cost me almost $300 aud delivered.

Also got a few updates since i was here last. I had the front bar, skirts and door mouldings repainted, added a gtb rear bar with scuff plate and a gtb rear spoiler. I changed the SSR wheels as well to some A-Tech "Final Speed - Zephyr" 17 x 7.5 rims that I had imported from Japan. The orange side repeaters have been changed to some clear jdm covers and i put in a Blitz SBC I-D II Boost Controller. 20psi FTW

Your car is very nice, I love the attention to detail. Makes me almost want to do a wagon for my next STi conversion but I think I'll just do sedan... They're lighter anyways
