So I was waiting for a while to figure out a good way to lengthen my EGR tube so I can install my phenolic IM spacers, and eventually I decided upon brazing using an oxy/acetylene flame, bronze brazing rod, and flux.
First I cut a spare EGR tube I had laying around in half.
Next, I found a piece of steel tubing that was slightly larger, to make a sleeve, and cut a piece roughly 1 cm longer than necessary.
Since the IM spacers are only 8mm thick, plus 2 IM gaskets, I have decided to lengthen the tube by approximately 10mm.
Here's a picture of the final product, after sanding. You can see a bronze strip where the steel pieces meet.
I decided to coat the entire thing with DEI silicone spray since I had some extra laying around. It is intended for use on exhaust pipes and should help slow/stop any corrosion/rust.
