Probably posted already, but for (additional) reference, here is a before and after on my '97

I finally get full contact, and for the first time that I can remember I actually used the rear wiper last rain storm.

Re: Rear wagon wiper upgrade - time to go new school

Need some help on what I did wrong the first time so as to not repeat my mistake. 2002 Outback VDC. I am doing a tailgate swap due to a fender bender, and decided to do this upgrade as part of it. On the first attempt, my working rear wiper was replaced with the Tribeca arm and blade mentioned earlier in this thread (trying to keep my car racially pure). It started to move and maybe did 20 degrees before stopping. Unsure if I tightened the nut too loose or too tight, I later attempted to adjust the torque of the 10mm nut. Loosened, the spindle spun freely with the motor. Tightened, it would not spin the new blade. In attempting to further tighten it, the spindle snapped in half with the 10mm still attached.

Luckily, I have the working motor from my old liftgate, and can swap that over once a 23mm socket shows up in the mail. Just want to make sure I don't repeat the same mistake round 2 once it shows up. Any advice is appreciated.

Completed the swap. 1 inch socket works in place of 23mm. confirmed TRIBECA ARM DOES NOT WORK. All back together now using my old wiper arm, working fine. Hopefully the dealer lets me return it.

Honda Arm ordered. Looking forward to full coverage & getting rid of the rusty rear wiper assembly on my BH Legacy.

I upgraded mine with one from a 2004 Forester, not as clean of a design as the Honda blade but still leaps and bounds better than what I had. And I think I only paid like $5 for it so you can't beat that.
