Striped out about a couple hundred pounds, or so today. Gave it some low end which is nice.

No the ej257 in the outback is done. The n/a motor is built. But still sitting in the shop. I can't start the swap until the outback is done. As I mentioned in the other thread.

nice work man.
your welds look awful cold on that light bar, what kind of machine do you have? a 110v MIG I'm guessing? Crank that guy up a notch or two (if you can) and you'll get much better welds (looks and strength)
keep up the good work! I love to see people with ambition.

Thanks. And yeah. The welds arnt pretty but they got good penetration and are strong. The welder has a few setting but if I go up all the way it burns holes in the steel. Trust me they are very strong.
No, no ,no I'm not insulting you, I'm describing you!
You know you should just grind down the welds. It will look a he'll of a lot better. If you have proper penetration and it wont compromise safety you can smooth it down nice. We do this to stair case rails and what not, on this bar it wont be an issue.

Yeah I started on it but my grinder needs a new blade. And the welds don't bother me cuz they are completely hidden by the grill and lights. If I make one for someone else I would grind them down.

Thanks. So I took it to the track for the winter cross. Took second place over some good Subarus like a built 08 2.5rs and another 1995 legacy, but lost to a modded 1998 2.5rs.
Had a blast.

haha that stock 2.2, I made the car as light as possible. Here is a pic of me at corner 5 at miller motor sports park.Originally Posted by Reason

Sorry I've been slacking on updates.. I've been busy with a personal shit storm..
Anyways. The outback is killing the budget for this car
So rather than buying a strut tower bar.... I made one.
I got some 16 gauge sheet steel, a 3/4" pipe, some bolts that didn't have threads til about an inch below the head, and about 2 inches of rubber hose.
(the rubber hose fits snug inside the pipe and snug over the non threaded part of the bolt, so I could use it as a bushing) any ways.it took me about 5 hours and a few modifications to the original design be for it was sturdy enough to satisfy me. I am truly impressed with amount the it helped the car. I wasn't to sure about it at first but it makes a world of difference.

Nice. I to have been thinking of making a strut tower brace... This can give me more food for thought and ideas. I assume you will, post but I'd like to ask for more pix
What's the story with your outback? You had a good one then sold it and the new owners neglect it, then you got a gen 3 and it got wrecked, then fixed and a motor upgrade?? Is this a fair synopsis?
( i suppose i could look up your outback(s) thread too?)
I like the strut brace! Def. want to see more pictures of it, because I want to make one! lol
