New wheels tires need help desiding.

So Thanksgivingish I got Continental ExtreamWinterContacts and had them mounted on my snowflakes leaving my Contiextreamcontacts all-seasons unmounted. Not having enough money for rims I planned to get these in the spring.

    http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelClo ... sort=Price

Now that I need new rims, if I get them from tire rack I have some extra money now and I want to get them with summer tires mounted. I would like to run a 215-45R17 but I haven't been able to find a 17" rim in my price range that weighs less than 19-20 pounds so I think il just stick with 16's but 215-50's and 215-55's don't really work so I'm stuck with either a 205-55R16 on a 7" rim or 225-50R16 on a 7.5" rim. Will a 225 fit on my car? or should I just stay happy with a 205?

Where do most of you guys shop for rims?

I'm also going to get some 15" OB rims or something for Rally-x.

    I should of said will these http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... mpare1=yes
    or these http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... &tab=Sizes
Fit on these http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelClo ... sort=Price on a BD GT

And no I'm not a Continental fan boy I got there A/S because I need good snow traction and the others just happen to have the best price to performance in what I'm looking for (there the only max performance summer tire in a 225/50R16).

225/50/16 is a tight fit on the 2nd gen, especially the high performance summer tires. You have a little more room to work with in the sedan though.

Id like to avoid rubbing. My suspension is all stock, I am planning on going stiffer but not much lower. Most of the tires I'm looking at are 8.4" section width for the 205's and 9.2" for the 225's

215/55R16's are to big I don't wanna go larger and idk about other places but there are only 4 tires in 215/50R16 on tire rack.

Falken ziex 912 in 215/50/16. I have a used set of these for $50. best tyres I have ever had, AA traction rating. I pushed them hard b4 I could hear them start to moan

Re: New wheels tires need help desiding.

So according to this from the stickied thread for the best performance.

Once you decide on the rim size, the tire width you want to run, here are your final tire choices. Note that not all tires are built the same way, so sometimes you'll find two different tire models with the same size (225/45/17), but one can fit on a 7" rim, while the other one will need a 7.5". You'll have to look around the manufacturers' specs on sectional width of the tire.. normally you want your rim width be no more than 1.5" less than the tire's sectional width. For example, if you have a 8" wide rim, your tire's sectional width shouldn't be more than 9.5" or you'll have to deal with the flex on the tire sidewalls. Most performance driving set ups are 1" difference (ie. a 8" wide rim with 9" wide tire). Below I listed for you by rim diameter of which I recommend running with some notes on each tire with notes to go along with them as well:

    I should run a 205 on a 7" rim a 215 on a 7.5" and a 225 on a 8" but a 215 would probably work on a 7" but for track would a 7.5" be a lot better or wouldn't I really notice??

Most of the 215/45 and 205/55 tires I'm looking at both have a section width of 8.4".

Will stock 2011 WRX wheels 17x8's with 235/45R17's fit? Probably need to role?

I couldn't tell the difference between my 6.5" and 7" wide wheels, but given the choice I always go wider.

what size tires were u running? I think I'm gunna go with 215's on a 17x7.5 but they might come with 225's on so I'll give them a shot. 205/55R16 tires are so much cheaper but think my car will look better with 17's for summer.
