    "Here's a link to a very helpful resource - a list of almost every transmission made by Subaru (93-present, it seems), with all the gear ratios, final drives, etc. listed:"

    Since Pwise2326 has neglected this post (chuckthefuk) I will edit with more info :-D

    New Link:

    Sweeeet. Prefect timing on this one. I was wondering if the ratio's between the tranny's that came on EJ22's and EJ25's was different.

    Re: Transmission Chart

    This/these chart(s) have some JDM and I think is/are pretty comprehensive for US, but the tranny code for the 95 Legacy 5MT is NOT the one that was in my 95 Legacy L (mine ended AAAA), I think I found a couple other questionable parts in the past too and it does NOT cover any of the dual range trannies from Australia, which were also in Japan, Latin America and Europe...

    So, we're still at a loss for the dual range 5MT (1st, 2nd and 3rd gen legacy; 1st, 2nd gen OB, 1st and 2nd gen Fozzie, 1st and 2nd gen Impreza and 1st and 2nd gen WRX) tranny codes...

    I'm not sure what all years are covered? I've found some phase 1's and 2's by using the "TZ" code on the bellhousing.

    WHOA, thanks!
    that answers main questions for my [new/used] transmission. Still interested in those data for other models and years. Like which came with 3.70 FD, which with 3.90 which with 4.11 and which with 1.19:1 vs. 1.44:1 vs. 1.59:1..

    Thanks chuk. that's great info for my exact gearbox!

    Re: Transmission Chart

    SOOO, here's a littl eof the transmission code de-coded:

    Transmission identification codes start with a "T" and an example would be: TY856WB1AA

    "T" = transmission code
    "Y" = that it is a manual awd gearbox
    "85" = the transmission classification...in the case of manual gearboxes this number indicates the gear shaft spacing in millimeters. 6-speed transmissions use an 85mm shaft spacing while the current generation of 5-speed transmissions use a 75mm shaft spacing.

    "6" = some reference to the transmission case. "6" is used for 6-speeds, "4" is used for 8-bolt 5-speeds, "2" for 4-bolt Impreza 5-speeds, "5" for Forester 8-bolt 5-speeds, "3" for 4-bolt Forester 5-speeds, and "7" for some Legacy turbo 8-bolt 5-speeds. (my experience this coding of Impreza, Forester, Legacy as given here is not always the case. . .the important thing here is 4-bolt vs. 8- bolt and the higher the number, the more recent the transmission)

    "W" = transmission specification. "W" is 6-speed, "V" is 5-speed, "Z" = AT with MPT, "Y" = AT with VTD, etc. “X”= Dual range

    "B1AA" = indicates various details about the equipment such as center diff. type, front LSD, etc. and also about minor production changes. (this part I haven't found info to decode the final 4 characters.

    My point in this post is Character 6 IF ITS An "X" ITS A DUAL RANGE EJ TRANSMISSION

    Re: Transmission Chart

    ^totally!^

    I'm compiling the info specifically on the dual range transmissions from the chart provided by http://www.rallispec.com/index.html
    (HERE -->http://www.rallispec.com/downloads/T...art_Public.pdf)

    While that (or any chart I've seen) doesn't indicate the low range reduction, I'm fairly confident I can fill in those blanks given what I've learned over the years. I'm somewhat confident this applies to JDM, AUDM, LADM, and EDM markets.
