Aftermarket... Like springs, swap bars, body kits, wings, seats...

Crazy interchanges no one knows... Like a Tribeca bar on a BD...

Will it work... Such as "what do I do to make STi struts work?" or "can I install Impreza seats in my car?" goes here... I know a ton of those threads are out there. Post them here, or PM me and I'll update it. It would be nice to have a one thread go to for this vast amount of knowledge we have on this forum!

I have already got some help from other members, feel free to pitch in, or correct me if I'm wrong, I'm gonna need a lot of help figuring this stuff out. I know some, but very little!

    Springs!
On the good list: Whiteline, H&R
    Bad list: Tein S-tech

    Hybrid spring swaps:
    STI-Link?
    WRX-Link?

    Swaybars:
    Rally Tech

    OEM Stereo interchanges:
    Impreza up to 2007
    Forester up to 2008
Legacy up to 2004 (2005 and up incoprerated into dash/HAVC)

    Hybrid:
02-03 GT bar on 2nd gen Cheap (part #20401AE03A) http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=21211
    Tribeca bar link?

I know this is probably too late to be of any help to anyone but STI springs should fit BE/BH Legacys. Whiteline do swaybars and I highly recommend them 9had 24mm heavy duty one in my 2.5 BD Legacy)
I have a 03 Legacy L SE , so you are saying STi Springs from this year will fit?
    '03 Legacy L SE Wagon - Current
'97 Chevy Blazer - at a better home
'93 Accord Sedan - at a better home
    '85 RX-7 - RIP
    '86 RX-7 - better home
    '85 RX-7 - POPO got her
    '86 Nissan 300ZX - First One i Bought

Yes officer, I did hit a pedestrian, but instead of dwelling on that why not focus on how many I've missed?

This is not incorrect, it's still up for debate. I have seen them both ways, just like my 96 L that was OBD I.

EDIT: Updated info with a "Note" about possible differences.

The bottom's might swap, but the Rear/upper is a no for sure. Though I'm sure you could make it work, it will never fit right.

    Re: Parts interchange!

Okay, here's a question that I haven't found an answer to yet. Will older seats from a '95-'99 Outback wagon work in a '00-'04 Outback wagon?

Only reason I ask is because I have a perfect set of seats from my wrecked '99, and could use them in a newer Outback I'm looking at (5-speed, low miles) that has a nice tear in the driver seat.

    Re: Parts interchange!

I have a feeling no, but you could be the first to try and see if it does. Mainly because the rear strut towers are completely different.

Good point, I didn't think about the difference in the rear strut towers.

    Re: Parts interchange!

For the first gen, 89-91 tails are different from 92-94 (note) 92 tails are slightly different than 93-94 (< sedan). All first gen wagon tails will swap 89-94. Front seats swap through all years (not including trim level differences), the wagon rear seat bottom will bolt into a sedan. 89-92 have idiot lights in different areas than the 93-94. 89-92 are non airbag, 93-94 has it. Doors will swap through the years, rear glass is different from wagon to sedan. Engine wise 89-90 22e only, 91-94 was 22e or 22t depending on model. Front struts will swap 89-94, rears 89-91 and 92-94.

I'll add more later on, its getting late.

    Re: Parts interchange!

My rear subframe on my 01 Legacy is in bad shape. I will be doing some work to replace some suspension parts soon and wouldn't mind swapping the entire rear crossmember. I know 00-04 are a direct swap, but in my search I'm curious if I could use a 4th gen crossmember from a car being parted out.

The 4th gen is similar, but I'd hesitate to say whether you could make it work or not. I'd lean towards no.

    Re: Parts interchange!

Not sure where you're from, but there was a recall on the rear suspension on 00-early 02 legacy for rust issues. Might not be covered anymore but some info can be found here http://www.cars101.com/recalls.html

April 30, 2003 some 2000-2003 Legacy, Outback, Baja possible rear suspension corrosion problem Subaru has announced a voluntary recall on certain 2000-2001 models, some 2002 models, and very early production 2003 models including Subaru Legacy, Outback, and Baja vehicles in "salt-belt" states to address a possible rear suspension corrosion problem.
This involves Legacy, Outback, and early Bajas, 2000 through 2001, some 2002 models, and approximately 45 very early production 2003 vehicles. The vehicles were produced between May 1, 1999 and April 30, 2002. Approximately 170,000 vehicles are potentially affected in the "salt belt" region. This recall will include vehicles originally sold and/or currently registered in the states of CT, DE, DC, IA, IL, IN, KY, ME, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI,VT, VA, WV, and WI.

Just a refinement: Some of the later-produced 92's had the four spoke steering wheel with the airbag. 92-94 front struts had different ride heights from the 90-91.

First off thank you for this heaps of information. But I was looking for info on a front bumper specifically a 2000 B4 RSK BE5 front bumper. I see that you provided a link to the information on that but it seems as the link does not work anymore. Any help would be great.

    Thank you.

The Japanese 1998-early 2001 bumper is the same shape as any north american 2000-2004 bumper. If you just need "something", then you can use any of those but they will have a different design. If you want a bumper of the same design, then you will need to get one from another 1998-early 2001 Japanese legacy.
