While as robust as the Subaru's AWD system is, the simple fact is my Jeep has solid axles, an insane amount of articulation because of that, low range and so much torque at idle, I don't have to touch the throttle to get it moving - I just let the clutch out.
I take my Outback offroad and not just driving on dirt. I've actually wheeled it. I've also towed a number of things out of mud. It's a great car for adventures and handles like a champ on loose gravel but if I had to take one on a serious off road journey, I'd take the Jeep.
