    A/C schrader valves on lines

One of the schrader valves in my A/C lines/hoses is leaking and I was wondering if anyone has ever changed those or if it was even possible?

Are they the same size/type of schrader valve as a tire? Thats what I can get at the local parts store so I was curious is they were the same type/size. There are also ones on ebay say they are specifically A/C schrader valves so I didn't know if there was a difference.

    Thanks!

Shraders are easily removed as long as the refrigerant is out of it. They make a shrader removal tool. I use one for hvac.

Yeah, I have the tool. Just need to know if I need a special type/size schrader valve for the a/c lines or is it the same one as tire valve stems.

    Thanks.

There are 2 different sized. The low pressure line is like a tire valve. The High pressure line is a bit larger...

Mine were both the same size. They were larger then tire schrader valves. Got a kit at Advance Auto Parts. It did come with two larger scrader valves, two smaller schrader vavles, and a few different sized replacement caps.

For future reference if anyone needs it, it was a Factory Air Cap and Valve A/C System Seal Kit. Part number 26783 at Advance Auto Parts.

Just noticed your year... 97-98 have a year split so that might be why... All radiators, AC condensers, lines and a few other odd parts are different under the hood...

Bringing this one back from the dead...

I've got a leaky schrader valve on my high pressure line. Is it safe to replace this with refrigerant in the system, or should it be emptied first and then recharged?

    Thanks

Once that valve is removed.. it will very rapidly empty itself. Especially on the high pressure side.

    Empty it first.
