Yeah, I did that on my old gt. You just have to take off the foam insert between the bumper beam and the bumper skin as the OBP bumper is too narrow in that area to fit over it. Mounts up to factory holes though.
5-doors or bust
I swapped a 98 outback bumper on my 95 L. You will need the energy absorber and bumper beam from the new bumper so it will fit properly on your car. Other than that it's just unbolting the old and inserting the new. Little bit of paint and it looks factory!

Yep, the outback bumper has the cutout for the larger (tall) grille so you'll have a gap with your stock grille. It's not a dealbreaker for installation, but something you'll want to keep in mind for finishing the look.
