Gotta love the old school emblems:
In it's natural habitat for the first time since I took ownership:
BC6? I thought the US only got BC7s. Is yours a 1.8? What does your ID plate say for the applied model? (not the VIN, VIN isn't a model code. It's an identification number)

Not sure what the ID plate says, but the VIN reads JF1 BC673......
It's got an EJ22T.
Seems like semantics as with the GC8 (I have a GC4 as well), but in any case it's a USDM BC.
Okay, so it's a BC7. There aren't any semantics about it. The VIN isn't a model code because it's different in different regions. The model code is universal. When the Japanese say "GC8" they are talking about the model code, not VIN (see picture below). Westerners somehow mix up the meanings of "applied model" and "Identification number". I wrote up some explanations here: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=17332
The VIN is different for different markets. The Applied Model Code is universal. Which is why they say to look at that on the back of catalogues (click thumbnail):
And I'm not trying to be difficult or a "know-it-all", just educate so we are all well informed.

You don't have to try, you just are a difficult know-it-all, haha. Just playing. Yamazaki has a huge knowledge of these cars and is always a good person to ask about anything.
Welcome to the forum.
Haha, right you are sir. And how. Never have I seen such a proper and thorough explanation of the modern Subaru line, thanks for writing that!
And it is applied model: BC7
I suppose the word semantics really isn't correct, but what I was getting at is just what you said, that the VIN is not universal and gets tossed around. GC8 being a prime example.
Second RallyX event for the SS was a success!
Took home 2nd place in MA at the National Challenge/MiDiv Championship, just behind the Evo that won Nationals last year. Put down some times that were only a second or two off that car's pace at most (sometimes within 0.5), so that felt pretty good. Will be getting some SOA money out the deal this time, too, woohoo contingency!
The car held up wonderfully the whole weekend, so a big thanks to my sponsors Russ' Garage for the prep of the car and going the extra mile to make things work when the unexpected arises!
This last weekend, the SS got new group N upper strut mounts, new group N engine mounts, replacement transmission mount, and WRX suspension all around. Definitely a more workable setup, predictable and sturdy enough to soak up the bumps. I also installed another 4-pt. harness just like I have in the Impreza, certainly made a difference as well.

This has been a long time without any attention. Condensing a few years of updates in to a few posts, hold on to your hat!
Welp, had a bit of a setback.
A rod let go in pretty dramatic fashion:
A new short block is in, buttoned up and now fully tuned. Went up to a 2.5L and upgraded the fuel system to accommodate the extra cubes:
A really big shout-out is in order to Russ' Garage and Boosted Performance; none of this would have been possible without their efforts and continued support!
The first RallyX event was sadly a bit of a wash due to conditions and I only got to test with about 500ft. of dry track in the middle of the course.
That little taste was very promising, though 8)
Made for some great photos in any case:

Since going intercooled, the diminutive stock hood scoop was not sufficient to keep intake charge temps down. I was previously spiking to over 120 degrees F after a pull.
A v.7 JDM scoop, N/A hood from a parts car, aftermarket splitter and many hours of cutting, welding and panel bonding and we have:
Seems to work, too! IATs dropped a good 25-30 degrees across the board.
Going to throw some vinyl on it for now but will eventually spend more time blending and smoothing it before a repaint with body color.
Can't get enough of this shot
